Insider buying, filtered

Most insider filings are noise. The Insider Trading book keeps the ones that aren’t.

It starts from one kind of SEC Form 4: an insider buying their own company’s stock with their own money (an SEC purchase, code P). It filters those again, and it counts the trades that lost next to the ones that won.

Tested on past filings before our June 2026 launch, not traded live. Trades closed Jun 26, 2026 to Sep 14, 2026. As of 22 Sept 2026, 50 of the 55 trades in our tested record (April and May 2026) came from a data source that can’t show 10b5-1 plans, so those weren’t filtered for it. Past results don't promise future ones. See the full record

What we throw out

Before a filing can reach the book, we drop:

  • Anything that is not a purchase (SEC code P): sales, stock grants, option exercises, shares withheld for tax, and gifts.
  • From our June 2026 picks on, we drop buys the filing marks as made under a pre-set trading plan (Rule 10b5-1).
  • Buys by insiders who traded in the same calendar month three years running, and by insiders with under three years of trades to judge.
  • Companies worth under $50 million or over $2 billion, and stocks under $1.

OpenInsider shows you every filing. We show you the few that count, and how they did.
